Q. What is so bad about using conventional cleaning products?
A. Conventional cleaning products contain a large array of extremely toxic, harmful chemicals and substances. Most mainstream cleaning products only list the active ingredients that they are required to display. These ingredients alone are enough to make you extremely ill, alter your immune response, and even cause cancer! They contain carcinogens (may cause or aggravate cancer), neurotoxins (reduced IQ in children, affect nervous system), teratogens (extremely dangerous to fetuses), petrochemicals, VOCs (chlorine, sulfur, etc.), and more. The ingredients in these products can irritate skin, cause blindness, cause longterm breathing problems (such as asthma). The list goes on and on. There have been no long term studies on the effects of using such products, but I would guess that the long term effects are as bad, if not worse, than the short term health problems that they cause. All of these products are even worse for our children's health.
Q. Why should I use an earth-friendly cleaning company?
A. The use of an all-natural cleaning company will eliminate the hazards and dangers of using conventional cleaning products. Every product we use is safe for your home, your family, and your environment. Using an eco-friendly cleaning company provides you with the comfort of knowing your family isn't being exposed to any toxins or harmful fumes and residues. The products are also safer for your possessions (furniture, floors, plants, etc.) and will be cost effective in the short and long term. Less doctor bills, vet bills, etc.
Q. What is in the natural cleaning products?
A. Most of the anti-bacterial and cleaning properties of natural cleaning products come from essential oils. Some products contain citrus, lavender, or basil oils. Some are vinegar based, some use all-natural surfectants. Other ingredients are lemon juice and baking soda. Our products contain no toxins or harmful substances.
Q. Do natural cleaning products work as well as the mainstream cleaning products?
A. Earth-friendly cleaning products work as well, if not better than, conventional cleaning products. Oregano, basil, clove, and thyme are highly antibacterial and antimicrobial. They have even proven to be better than antibiotics in treating infection! The essential oils in our cleaning products absorb odors, mold and mildew, and other toxins in the home. Baking soda and vinegar are a highly effective alternative to bleach. Olive oil is an effective wood polish. We wouldn't use these products if we couldn't garauntee that they work as effectively as the mainstream products to clean and sanitize the homes of our customers.
Q. What if I'm allergic to some of the natural cleaning products?
A. Some people have sensitivities to certain essential oils. Mostly, it is a reaction to only one of the oils and we can work to eliminate the particular irritant from our cleaning routine. We will do whatever it takes to accomodate our customers and make them comfortable in their homes.
Q. What areas does Naturally Clean Housekeeping service?
A. We service the city of Charlottesville and surrounding areas. These areas include Albemarle County, Nelson, Greene, and Madison. We will gladly consider adding additional areas as needed. Right now we service Batesville, Schuyler, Crozet, Afton, Ruckersville, and Madison.
Q. What is involved in getting a free estimate?
A. Once we shedule a mutually convenient time to visit your home, we will do a total walk-thru with you. During this visit, please mention any specifics that you will need and feel free to ask us as many questions as you like. The estimate usually takes about 20-30 minutes and we will have a quote for you on the spot or by the end of the day.
